Wie man einen Gummibaum vermehrt

June 20th, 2009 Erik No comments

Read more…

Martin Graf muss gehen

Martin Graf, Third President of the austrian national assembly, and therefor rank 4 of austrian representatives, has to seign. His anti-Semitic and racist comments are unacceptable. He is a shame for the austrian political establishment.

The most important advertising media are your own employees

May 7th, 2009 Erik No comments

At last I read an interview with a CEO today, which gave me the impression, that in fact there are some executives, who see their employees not only as a capital good: Götz Werner, owner of «dm», a german drugstore-chain gave an interview to the austrian political magazine «profil»:

profil: In times of crisis, people will go to the dm-coiffeur less often, they will not buy shampoo or abstain from buying perfume.
Werner: It’s our challenge to make sure, that those, who still buy shampoo, buy it from us. This is not a question of customer retention, what most in the trading business believe, but customers should like to bond themselves to us.

profil: How do you achieve this bonding?
Werner: By means of advertising, Sponsoring, through the appearance of our staff. The most important issue is mouth-to-mouth-propaganda. At their regulars’ table the employees have to speak good about their company. Many entrepreneurs underestimate, that the most important advertising media are the own employees.. The way we are treating our employess, the way they are dealing with our customers.

Comment: This is also true for job applicants. They also like to speak about they way, they have been treated by the company. And therefore in a way the application process is a very important marketing process, not only a Human Resources Process.

How to calculate Easter Sunday

April 9th, 2009 Erik No comments

Until 2001 I had a quite helpfull database written in MS Access, which administered my schedule. It could even show all fixed and variable Holydays. Only Easter Sundays had to be put in manually, because I didn’t have any algorithm for this. Until today. derstandard.at published a very informative article about the history and the foolproof algrithm to calculate Easter Sunday. I couldn’t help but tryed it in MS Excel, and it worked!

Today it’s abolutely useless knowledge for me, but it made me dance though smiles

Traditional Spring Cleaning

March 6th, 2009 Erik 4 comments

Like last year I brushed up the Layout of my blog. But there are not only optical enhancements, but also some new plugins; like OpenID Login, Multilanguage and so on. The old Layout became just too unclear and confusing. Especially my last story about Safari and CSS 3 gave me headaches. So. Here’s the outcome, I hope you enjoy it!

And because in Vienna we have the habit to decrae everything a tradition, which happens more than one, I declare the Spring Cleaning of my blog a tradition!

Safari und CSS 3 [Update]

March 5th, 2009 Erik 2 comments

Read more…
